Caribbean programme – international development projects


Caribbean Export Development Agency–  Small Business Development Centres.   This model is now being implemented in the Caribbean with support from Caribbean Export in association with the Department of Economic Development, Trade and Tourism in the Organization of American States and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). This initiative was as a result of discussions at the Regional Workshop “Promoting and Improving SME Competitiveness and Productivity in the Caribbean” was held in San Diego, California, on September 6-7, 2011, in which all three parties were involved.  It also has a Direct Assistance Grant Scheme which is a reimbursement grant funding facility specifically designed to provide financial assistance to legally registered firms, individuals and Business Support Organisations (BSOs) who have the potential to export their products and services. Grants of up to 30,000 EUROs can be received by firms that meet the eligibility criteria, whose applications are accepted and are exporting or demonstrate their potential to export goods and services from the Caribbean.

Caribbean SME– The SME Toolkit is a program of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, and is available in multiple languages through local partners around the world.  The mission of IFC ( is to promote sustainable private sector investment in developing countries as a way to reduce poverty and improve people’s lives.
